About the Role
SurvWest, LLC is seeking an experienced Survey Technician to support our Survey and Geospatial Services from our Englewood, Colorado office. This role supports the delivery of a wide range of survey products, with a primary focus on boundary surveys, data processing, CAD production, surface generation, and LiDAR data extraction, and secondary support for survey control, right-of-way (ROW), ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and engineering design surveys.
The Survey Technician works closely with Project Managers and survey leadership to ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality survey deliverables while maintaining SurvWest’s CAD standards and technical workflows.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 3 years of professional survey experience preferred
Strong understanding of survey concepts, methods, and data processing
Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey data processing software
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with LiDAR data processing and extraction
Experience creating DTM surfaces and surface models for survey and engineering use
Bentley software experience (MicroStation, OpenRoads / InRoads)
Trimble Business Center experience
Familiarity with CDOT TMOSS survey standards
GIS experience
Certified Survey Technician (CST) certification
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Survey Data Processing, LiDAR & CAD Production
Process survey data and assist in the preparation of survey deliverables, including:
Boundary surveys
Right-of-Way (ROW) surveys
ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
Topographic surveys
Engineering design surveys
Perform LiDAR data extraction to support survey and mapping deliverables.
Create and refine Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) and surface models from field survey data and LiDAR point clouds.
Process survey control networks and adjust survey data as required.
Convert field data into accurate planimetrics, breaklines, and surface representations.
Prepare and maintain CAD drawings in accordance with SurvWest and client standards.
Software & Technical Support
Utilize survey and design software including:
AutoCAD Civil 3D
Bentley products (MicroStation, OpenRoads / InRoads)
ProjectWise Explorer
Trimble Business Center (data processing and extraction)
Apply client-specific CAD standards and CDOT TMOSS standards (preferred).
Identify opportunities for improved workflows, technology, and survey processes.
Assist in maintaining and improving internal CAD, surface modeling, and survey standards.
Coordination & Communication
Work collaboratively with Project Managers and other technical staff to meet project schedules.
Communicate clearly regarding task status, data issues, and technical constraints.
Support coordination between field crews and office staff as needed.
